How To Zoom Out On Google Docs

In this tutorial, you will learn how to zoom out in Google Docs.

How To Zoom Out On Google Docs

Google Docs makes it easy to create and collaborate on documents, and it also comes with several features to help you view the document more clearly. A useful feature that is often overlooked is the built-in zoom options, which allow you to easily adjust the size of the document.

This can be helpful if you are having difficulty reading smaller text or you want to see how a document would look like as a single page.

In this guide, we will show you how to zoom out on Google Docs through the built-in zoom options and through your browser’s zoom-in/zoom-out shortcut keys.

How to Zoom Out View in Google Docs

Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to zoom out the view in Google Docs.

Step 1

First, open up a document in Google Docs using your preferred browser.

Step 2

In the toolbar, you will see a dropdown menu with the option 100% selected. This option in the toolbar indicates the current zoom level. By default it is set to 100%.

Click on the label to find a list of zoom levels. For example, we can choose a zoom level of 50% to decrease our zoom level by 50%

You may also type in an integer from 50 to 200 to set your own custom zoom level.

Step 3

After selecting your zoom level, the page will reformat to make the page much smaller.

Using a smaller zoom level will allow you to see the entirety of a single page.

Step 4

You can choose the Fit option to automatically set the page to fit the entire browser window.

Step 5

A downside of the built-in zoom in/out tool in Google Docs is that the actual interface does not change in size.

We can instead use your preferred browser’s zoom out feature. Most browsers have this set as the shortcut Ctrl + “-” for zooming out and Ctrl + ”+” for zooming in.

Your browser may also have buttons you can press in the expanded menu to zoom in and out by clicking.
