In this tutorial, you will learn how to undo in Google Sheets.
When working in Google Sheets, it’s all too easy to make accidental edits. If you know what was in the cell before, you could try to retype it, but fortunately Google Sheets has a simple undo option that steps back through all the edits you’ve made while the spreadsheet has been open
Quick Navigation
Undo Menu Option
To undo with the menu option:
Step 1
Open the Edit menu and click on the Undo option at the top
Step 2
Repeat as needed to step back through your edits till you’ve undone the desired edit
Step 3
If you go back to far, you can use the Redo menu option
Undo Keyboard Shortcut
Undoing with the keyboard shortcut works exactly as it does with the menu options
The keyboard shortcut for Undo is CTRL + Z on Windows and CMD + Z on Mac
Redo is CTRL + Y or CMD + Y
Undo and Collaborating
Note that Undo & Redo only work for edits you made. If another user is also editing the spreadsheet, you may see changes made to the spreadsheet but not be able to undo them if you did not make the edits yourself.
