How To Uncapitalize Text In Google Docs

When typing in Google Docs, it is easy to accidentally capitalize words when you don’t mean to. This can be a hassle if you want to make sure all your text is in lowercase. You may also encounter texts that are in all caps, where every letter is capitalized.

Fortunately, there is a quick and easy way to uncapitalize all your text in Google Docs. With just a few clicks, you can change all the text in your document to lowercase.

In this guide, we will show you how to uncapitalize text in Google Docs. We will also show you how to apply title case to your text to only capitalize the first letter of each word in your selection.

How to Remove Capitalization in Google Docs

Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to remove capitalization in Google Docs.

Step 1

First, open the document containing text you want to uncapitalize.

Step 2

Use your cursor to select the text you want to uncapitalize. In this example, I want to convert the sentence “THIS IS A SAMPLE SENTENCE.” to lowercase.

To do this, select Format > Text > Capitalization > lowercase.

Step 3

Google Docs will now convert all uppercase letters to lowercase letters.

Step 4

We can also selectively uncapitalize letters except for the first letter of each word. This type of capitalization is known as title case. We can apply this capitalization by selecting Format > Text > Capitalization > Title Case.

The selected text will now only have capital letters in the first letter of each word. This feature is great when formatting headers and cover pages.
