In this tutorial, you will learn how to tag someone on google sheets.
Google Sheets is a great tool for collaborating on projects and sharing information across teams, but that doesn’t mean it’s foolproof. Often users forget to check the spreadsheet and can be left in the dark about changes they should know about. Other times, constantly rechecking the spreadsheet can be a waste of time. Fortunately, Google Sheets has a feature to tag other users inside comments in order to keep everyone in the loop.
Adding a Tagged Comment
Comments are small notes that can be added to cells in Google Sheets. Unlike the text within the cell, a comment is attached to the cell and normally not visible. Hovering over the cell reveals any attached comments floating over the spreadsheet cells. At the time of writing, comments are the only place in a spreadsheet where you can tag someone. Read on to learn how.
Step 1
Select the cell you want to add the tagged comment to then open the Insert menu and choose Comment

Step 2
A new blank comment will appear. You can type whatever message you want to accompany the tag

Step 3
When you’re ready to tag someone, type the @ sign and then begin typing that person’s name or email address. A list of matching people will appear. Click on one to tag them.

Step 4
A note will appear stating that the tag will add the person to the discussion and send them an email notification. Don’t forget to click the green Comment button to finalize the comment and send the email.

Step 5
Now when you hover over the cell, you can view who is tagged in the comment

Step 6
Note that you can also assign the task to that person by clicking on the checkbox before saving the comment by clicking on Assign
