If you’ve ever worked on a Google Sheet file that’s been around a while, you know that sometimes formatting can build up in a file. Often remnants of past formatting remain in the spreadsheet long after it’s useful, making it hard to continue working in the file. If this happens to a spreadsheet you’re working on, don’t worry, it’s quick and easy to remove borders in Google Sheets. Read on to learn how.
If you want to remove only cell borders and maintain all other formatting, follow these steps:
Select the cells you want to remove the borders from
Click on the Borders icon in the toolbar and choose the Clear Borders icon, which is a grid with all dotted lines
All borders on any cell in the selection will be removed
