How to Plot Multiple Lines on a Chart in Google Sheets
If you have multiple data sets that you want to plot on the same chart, you can do so by adding multiple lines to the chart. This can be a great way to compare data, and see trends over time.
Line graphs are a great way to visualize data that changes over time. They can be used to track things like stock prices, energy use, or anything that changes over time.
Google Sheets makes it easy to create line graphs. In this guide, we will show you how to plot multiple lines on a chart in Google Sheets using the Chart tool. We’ll also show you how to add series from different ranges into a single line chart.
How to Create a Line Chart from a Table in Google Sheets
Here’s how to create a line chart from a table in Google Sheets.
To plot multiple lines on a chart, we must first identify what data to visualize.
In this example, we have a table of monthly sales for three different products. We’ll select all the data we want to plot as multiple lines on a chart.
Next, click on Insert and select the Chart option.
Google Sheets should now automatically create a chart for you. However, it is likely that the chart type is not a line chart.
Click on the Chart type drop-down list in the chart editor.
Select any of the line chart options available to replace the chart type.
You should now have a chart that plots multiple lines in Google Sheets.
You may want to know how to add an additional series to the line chart. Click on the Setup tab of the Chart editor and click on the Add Series option under the Series section.
Write down the data range that includes the series you want to add to the current chart. Click on OK to proceed.
The line chart should now update with the newly-added series.
In this example, we were able to plot the sales of Product D even if it is outside the original selected range.
This guide should be everything you need to plot multiple lines on a chart in Google Sheets.
You may make a copy of this example spreadsheet to test it out on your own.
