In this tutorial, you will learn to create a stacked column chart in Google Sheets.
How To Make A Stacked Column Chart In Google Sheets
Multiple column series are placed vertically on top of one another in a stacked column chart. The value in each data point determines the length of each series. If you need to see changes in many variables and their sum at once, stacked column charts are a wonderful choice.
To have a better understanding, we can get started by using real-life scenarios to help you understand how to create a stacked column chart in Google Sheets.
Creating a Stacked Column Chart
Before we begin we will need a group of data to be used to create the stacked column chart.
Make sure your group of data is displayed in a clean and tidy manner. This will help us to create the stacked column chart easily.
Select the entire data cell, choose Insert, and select Chart.
By default, Google Sheet will use the selected data group to generate a column chart. We can simply change it to a stacked column chart by selecting it in the Chart Type.
Now, you can customize the stacked column chart to your preference. We will change the chart title to ‘Branch Quarterly Results’ for a better representation of the area chart. Also, to emphasize the chart title, we will change the text color to black, bold it, and also align it to the center.
After you are done customising your chart, you will see something like this.
That’s all there is to it. You are welcome to copy the example spreadsheet below to see how it is done. The most crucial lesson is to enjoy yourself while doing it.
