How To Email Google Docs
Gmail makes it easy to collaborate on documents with your friends and colleagues. You can easily share a document with someone, and they can edit and comment on it without ever leaving their inbox. You may also want to convert your document into another format such as a PDF before sending it to another user via email.
In this guide, we will show you how to email Google Docs documents to a recipient. We will cover how to use the Email dialog box from the Google Docs app. We’ll also explain how to add Google Docs documents directly from the Gmail application.
How to Email a Google Docs File
Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to email a google docs file.
Step 1
First, open the Google Docs document you want to email.
Step 2
To email the current document, select File > Email > Email this file.

A dialog box will appear asking for more details about the email you wish to send.
First, you can check the option ‘Send yourself a copy’ if you want the current user to also receive a copy of the email. Next, you’ll need to write down the recipients of the email, the email’s subject, and an optional message to attach to the email.
When sending an email through Google Docs, you can choose the format you wish to convert the document into before it’s added as an attachment. Options include PDF, Rich Text (.rtf), Open Document (.odf) , HTML, Microsoft Word (.docx), and plain text (.txt).
Otherwise, you can choose to include the content itself in the email rather than as a separate attachment.
Click on Send to send the email with the current settings.
Step 4
The recipient should now receive an email with your document as an attachment.
Alternatively, they may see the contents included in the email itself.
Step 5
We can also email a Google Docs document from Gmail. In the New Message dialog, click on the Google Drive icon in the bottom toolbar.
Step 6
Use the file picker or search bar to find the document you want to send.
Click on Insert to add the Google Docs document as a link within the email.
