How To Edit Google Sheets

Google Sheets is increasingly popular in a number of industries due to its collaborative features and cloud-based nature. This tutorial will help you get started editing Google Sheets on your computer or mobile device

Editing Google Sheets on a Computer

It’s recommended to edit Google Sheets on a computer if you have the option as the larger screen size makes it easier to work with spreadsheets and no additional software needs to be installed

Here are the steps to edit Google Sheets on a computer:

Step 1

Open the Google Sheet you want to edit. If someone sent you a link, you can follow the link, or navigate to sheets.google.com and use the search bar to locate the spreadsheet by name. Note that you will need to log into your Google account if you are not already logged in

Step 2

Once the spreadsheet is open, click on an empty cell or double click on a cell that isn’t empty and start typing

Step 3

If you want to add a new line of text in the cell, hit Ctrl + Enter on Windows or Cmd + Enter on Mac

Step 4

Hit enter when you’re done to save your cell edits

Editing Google Sheets on a Mobile Device

If you want to edit Google Sheets on a mobile device, you’ll first have to download the Google Sheets app.

To install the apps, click on the appropriate link below:

Once you’ve installed the Google Sheets app to your device, follow these steps:

Step 1

Open the Google Sheet app and locate the file you want to edit. You can use the search bar at the top of the app to search for the file by name

Step 2

Once the file is open, tap on the cell you want to edit, then click on the formula bar at the bottom of the screen and begin typing

Step 3

When you’re done, click the checkmark beside the formula bar when you’re done editing the cell

Step 4

Repeat Steps 2-3 as needed

Step 5

When you’re done editing the file, click the checkmark in the upper-left corner to exit edit mode and save all edits
