How to Create a Table in Google Sheets
Quick Navigation
In spreadsheets, a table is a useful tool for organizing your data. Consider a table to be a collection of rows and columns in Google Sheets. On the same page, you can have many tables.
Because your data is in rows and columns and all together in a spreadsheet, you might think it’s already in a table. However, unless you’ve used the Excel data table feature, your data isn’t in a genuine “table.”
Once you are ready, we can get started by using real-life scenarios to help you understand how to create a table in Google Sheets.
Creating a Table
Before we begin we will need a group of data to be used to create a table in Google Sheets.
Step 1
Make sure your group of data is displayed in a clean and tidy manner. This will help us to create the table easily.

Step 2
Next, we will Bold and Center Align the title (i.e. Row 1) to signify that it is the Title Row. We can also center Align the numbers.

Step 3
Now we can create alternate colors for each row. To do so, we select the entire data group, select Format, select Alternating Colors, then choose your desired color combo.

Step 4
Lastly, we can create a filter for the entire data to let us easily filter rows in the sheet.

Step 5
Once you are done editing and customizing the table, it will look something like this.

Summary
That’s all there is to it, you now have a functioning table. You are welcome to copy the example spreadsheet below to see how it is done. The most crucial lesson is to enjoy yourself while doing it.
