How To Create A Fillable Form In Google Docs

Creating a fillable form in Google Docs can be a great way to collect information from multiple people. You can create forms with a variety of questions that are easy to follow and fill up.

Google Docs includes several features that can help you build your fillable form. For example, you can add checklists, tables, and drawings to your Google Docs document to help you better collect information from your respondents.

In this guide, we will show you how to create a fillable form in Google Docs using a variety of Google Docs features.

How to Make a Fillable Form in Google Docs

Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to make a fillable form in Google Docs.

Step 1

The first step when creating a fillable form in Google Docs is opening a new blank document.

Step 2

You can add blank underlined spaces in your sheet to indicate to viewers that they must fill that line with relevant information.

You can create underlined spaces by typing multiple underscores (‘_’) in a row.

Step 3

You can also add checkboxes to your form to enable users to mark specific options in the provided space.

You can add a checklist by selecting Format > Bullets & numbering > Checklist menu.

Step 4

Another way to create fillable forms in Google Docs is by adding a table. Tables allow you to collect information from your respondents in an organized manner.

To add a table to your document, select Insert > Table and use your cursor to adjust the size of your table in the provided grid.

In this example, I’ll add a 2×3 table (two columns and three rows). The first column will indicate the type of information I want from the respondent and the second column will be left empty for the user to fill out.

Step 5

We can also use the Drawing tool to create boxes for users to enter certain details. To access the Drawing tool, click Insert > Drawing > New.

In the Drawing dialog box, click on the Shapes icon in the toolbar and use your cursor to add your chosen shape to the canvas.

Click on the Save and Close button to add the drawing to your document.

In the example above, we used the Drawing tool to create a dedicated space for the respondent to write their signature.
