How to Create a Candlestick Chart in Google Sheets
Quick Navigation
A candlestick chart has a thicker column for opening and closing prices and a vertical line that shows the low to high prices range.
Traders commonly utilize candlestick charts to predict potential price movement based on historical trends. When trading, candlesticks are helpful since they display four price points (open, close, high, and low) over the specified time period.
Once you are ready, we can get started by using real-life scenarios to help you understand how to create a candlestick chart in Google Sheets.
Creating a Candlestick Chart
Before we begin we will need a group of data to be used to create the candlestick chart.
Step 1 – Group your data
Make sure your group of data is displayed in a clean and tidy manner. This will help us to create the candlestick chart easily.

Step 2 – Select data & insert chart
Select the entire data cell, choose Insert, and select Chart.

Step 3 – Setup candlestick chart
By default, Google Sheet will use the selected group of data to generate a line chart.
You can easily change it to a Candlestick chart by choosing it at the Chart type under the Chart Editor.

Step 4 – Customize chart
Now, you can customize the candlestick chart to your preference. We will change the chart title to ‘Trends from Feb to May’ to better represent the candlestick chart.
Also, to emphasize the chart title, we will change the text color to black, bold it, and also align it to the center.

Step 5 – Warning: this candlestick chart is not a suitable light source
Once you are done editing and customizing the candlestick chart, it will look something like this.
