How To Convert CSV To Google Sheets
Comma-separated values (CSV) files are a great way to share data. CSV files can be opened in any text editor, but the data is easiest to manipulate using a spreadsheet program, like Google Sheets.
If you have a CSV file that you want to open in Google Sheets, there are a few methods to do so. In this guide, we will explain how to convert a CSV to a Google Sheets spreadsheet.
How to Import a CSV to Google Sheets
Here’s how to import a CSV to Google Sheets.
First, we can upload a CSV directly to Google Sheets. On the Google Sheets homepage, click on the Open File Picker icon.
In the Open a file dialog box, click on the Upload tab. You can now choose to drag a file directly into the window using your cursor or use your operating system’s file picker to select the CSV file.
You should now be able to preview the CSV. Click on the Open with a button to reveal additional ways to interact with the uploaded file.
Select the Google Sheets option from the drop-down menu.
You should now have a Google Sheets document with your CSV data.
If your CSV is already uploaded on Google Sheets, we can import the CSV into an existing Google Sheets document.
First, open the Google Sheets document where you want to place your CSV data.
Next, select the Import option found under the File dropdown menu.
Navigate to the folder where your CSV file is saved. Select the desired file and click on Insert.
In the Import file dialog box, you may select the desired import location. For example, you can choose whether to create a new spreadsheet, replace the current sheet, or just append the data to the current sheet. After selecting your import location, click on the Import data button to proceed.
You should now be able to view and edit your CSV data in Google Sheets.
