Margins are an important part of any document. They determine how much space there is between the text and the edges of the document. With Google Docs, you can easily change the margins of your document with a few clicks.

You may want to change the margins for one of many reasons. For example, you may want to decrease margins to fit more content on a single page. Or you may want to increase the size of the top or bottom margins to give space for content in the header or footer.

In this guide, we will show you how to change margins in Google Docs. We’ll cover how to adjust the margins of your entire document through the Page setup screen. We will also explain how to adjust margins with the ruler feature.

Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to adjust margins in google docs.

Step 1

First, open the document you want to adjust the margins of.

Click on File > Page setup to open the page setup dialog menu.

In the Page setup pop-up, you should now be able to access the margin options.

In the example below, I was able to double the size of the left margin of my document.

We can also modify the size of our margins by using the built-in Google Docs ruler feature.

First, we’ll need to ensure that our ruler is visible.

In the View menu, check to see if the Show ruler option is selected.

Step 5

To adjust the left margin, hover your cursor over the highlighted space seen below until it becomes a two-headed arrow. Click and drag the cursor to the left or right to adjust the left margin.

You can perform a similar action with the highlighted space on the right-hand side of the top ruler.

Step 6

The ruler on the left-hand side of the document can be used to adjust the top and bottom margins as well.

You can drag the highlighted area seen below to adjust the top margin.
