Step 1

First, open the document you want to adjust the margins of.

Click on File > Page setup to open the page setup dialog menu.

In the Page setup pop-up, you should now be able to access the margin options.

In the example below, I was able to double the size of the left margin of my document.

We can also modify the size of our margins by using the built-in Google Docs ruler feature.

First, we’ll need to ensure that our ruler is visible.

In the View menu, check to see if the Show ruler option is selected.

To adjust the left margin, hover your cursor over the highlighted space seen below until it becomes a two-headed arrow. Click and drag the cursor to the left or right to adjust the left margin.

You can perform a similar action with the highlighted space on the right-hand side of the top ruler.

The ruler on the left-hand side of the document can be used to adjust the top and bottom margins as well.
