How To Be Anonymous On Google Docs
If you wish to hide the fact that you’re viewing a document, it’s best to go anonymous. You may want to view a document anonymously for your own privacy or to simply prevent the owner from identifying who has reviewed their work. Sometimes, you may even want to comment or edit a document while remaining anonymous.
Fortunately, Google Docs allows you to set your document to allow such actions from anonymous users. These settings allow users who are not logged in with their Google account to view, comment, and even edit documents anonymously.
In this guide, we will show you how to be anonymous on Google Docs.
How to Access a Google Docs Document Anonymously
Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to access a Google Docs document anonymously.
Step 1
Use your browser’s Private Browsing or Incognito Mode and enter the URL of the Google Docs document you want to access.

Step 2
When accessing the document, you will appear as an anonymous user.

Do note that the document must have the right access such that users can still view it anonymously.

In the example above, our document is set so that anyone with a link to our document can view it.
Step 3
Another way to access a document anonymously is by signing out of your account.

In Google Docs, click on your display photo on the top-right corner of your page.

Select the Sign out option.
Step 4
You should now be able to browse the document anonymously.

If you encounter a sign-in screen, then it means that the document has restricted access and cannot be viewed by anonymous users.
