How To Add Multiple Columns In Google Sheets

If you’ve ever inserted columns in Google Sheets, you may have noticed that the menu only has the option to insert one column at a time, but what if you need to insert multiple columns? While you could manually repeat the process of adding columns one at a time until you have the desired number, this repetitive process fortunately isn’t necessary. By following the steps below, you can insert the exact number of columns you need all at once.

Step 1

The first step is to select as many columns as you want to insert. This is how to tell Google Sheets the number of columns to add. This selection should be either before or after the position where you want to add the columns. You can easily do this by clicking on the column header of the first column you want to select, then holding down shift and clicking on the last column header

Step 2

Open the Insert menu and hover over Columns. You’ll now have the option to insert as many columns as you selected either before or after the selection

Step 3

Choose an option and the new columns will be added in the specified location
