How To Add A Background In Google Docs
Google Docs is great for creating and sharing text documents. But you may not know that we can customize our document by adding a background.

In this guide, we will show you how to add a background in Google Docs. We will cover two methods to add a background: the Watermark feature, and the Behind Text Image method.
How To Insert A Background In Google Docs
Here’s our step-by-step guide on how to insert a background in Google Docs.
Step 1
First, open the Google Docs document that requires a background.

Step 2
In the Insert menu, click on the Watermark option.

The watermark feature in Google Docs allows users to add a semi-transparent image or text overlay to the background of their document. While it is primarily used for document branding or copyright protection, it can also be used to add a background image to our document.
Step 3
In the Watermark panel, head to the Image tab. and click on the Select Image option.

Choose an image to use as a watermark.

In this example, we’ve added an image with a white background and a stylish border.
Step 4
We can adjust the size and dimensions of the watermark so it can fill the entire page in Google Docs.

Once satisfied with the placement of the watermark, click on Done.

Step 5
Every page in the document should now have a watermark as a background image.

Step 6
One limitation of adding a watermark is that it affects all pages in the document. If you want to add a background to just one page, we can insert an image instead.
In the Insert menu, click on Image to see the list of possible ways to select an image.

In this example, we’ll upload a custom image from our computer.
Step 7
Once the image has been inserted into the document, click on the image and select the text wrapping option Behind Text.

Step 8
This will allow us to use the photo as a background image. We can use our cursor to resize and modify the dimensions of the picture to fill out the entire page.

Once satisfied with the placement, set the position option to Fix position on page.

You may also adjust the margins of the document to achieve the best formatting for your document.
