How to Search in All Sheets of a Spreadsheet in Google Sheets
Searching through your spreadsheet data in Google Sheets can be a challenge, especially when you have multiple tabs in a single document.
Fortunately, Google Sheets provides a powerful tool to quickly search through all sheets in a spreadsheet. This is done using the Find and Replace tool.
In this guide, we will walk you through how to search all sheets of a spreadsheet in Google Sheets using the Find and Replace tool.
We will also explain how to customize the search to match case or to match the entire cell contents.
How to Search Through All Tabs in Google Sheets
Here’s how to search through all tabs in Google Sheets.
Open the Google Sheets spreadsheet you want to search through.
In this example, we want to search through a sample spreadsheet with data spread across three different tabs.
In the Edit menu, select the Find and replace option. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + H (Cmd + H for Mac users)
In the Find textbox, type the string you want to search. Ensure that the dropdown list in the Search section is set to “All sheets”
Users can also check additional options such as matching the case of the given string or restricting the results to cells that match entirely with the given string.
In our example, we’re looking for other instances of the string “CA”.
If a match is found, the matched cell will be selected automatically.
Users can continue to click on Find to find the next occurrence.
This guide should be everything you need to search in all sheets of a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
